Sex Offender Information |
|
If you are going on vacation to a different state you should check out the registration requirements for the state you are planning to visit. This information can be found here. Note that these requirements may change and you should check with the official state website before travel. If you have been convicted of a sex crime then your life has changed forever. You will be discriminated against in many aspects in life i.e. housing, employment, even legally and politically. If you have been convicted of a sex crime you will probably have to register with your local law enforcement agency. This may seem to be a simple and straigthforward process (and it usually is) but it in reality it can be way more complex than at first glance. The actual process of registering will depend upon several factors but in every case it is essential to register as failing to do so will result in prosecution and another custodial sentance. Firstly you will need to find out which law enforcement agency to register with. This will vary depending on where you intend to live. Most cities have their own sex offender restrictions so just looking at the state requirements is not going to be sufficient. Check with your local law enforcement agency and they should be able to tell you where you need to register. As a general rule if you live in an unincorporated township, then the state rules will apply and you should contact the local sheriff's office to register. In addition to registering with the local law enforcement agency you will need to acquire a new drivers licence annually. You may also need to re-register annually too. This will cost you the usual licence renewal fee and re-registration fee (if they apply). In other words you will continue to be punished for life! Do not expect any support from your local representative or council person as railing against sex offenders is a sure vote getter, whereas actually helping them is a vote loser. You will need to contact a legitimate action group (e.g. Texas Voices For Reason and Justice) in order to try and get some reason to be implemented. Some of the following links are not actually the official state websites. We will update the links when we locate the actual offical websites.
